Built from 1695 as a summer palace for Queen Sophie Charlotte, Charlottenburg is Berlin's largest palace. Its gardens were laid out in French baroque style, later softened into an English landscape park along the Spree.
Parterres and fountains behind the domed palace, a carp pond, a belvedere and mausoleum among old trees, the Spree along the edge — regal and green together.

For a palace-garden proposal away from the centre. The baroque parterre gives grand symmetry; the landscape park behind it gives privacy. Grand walk-ups and quiet corners in one place.
