Engagement Photos at Moritzburg Palace

Moritzburg is a baroque hunting palace built on an island in an artificial lake, approached by a causeway, with four round towers reflected in still water. Every Czech and German child knows it: Three Wishes for Cinderella was filmed here, and the palace runs a Cinderella exhibition each winter. It is fifteen minutes from Dresden.

The Cinderella connection

Tři oříšky pro Popelku — Three Wishes for Cinderella — is a Czech-German fairy tale film from 1973 that both nations watch every Christmas. Moritzburg is its castle. For a Czech-German couple, or anyone who grew up with the film, proposing here carries a shared childhood inside it.

Timing the reflection

Still water is everything. Early mornings are calmest; afternoon breeze usually breaks the mirror. Winter can freeze the lake, and the Cinderella exhibition (typically from November) fills the palace with visitors — magical, but plan the private moment for the lakeside rather than the courtyard.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Moritzburg from Dresden and Prague?

Fifteen minutes from Dresden and about an hour and forty minutes from Prague. It is an easy half-day.

Is Moritzburg really the Cinderella castle?

Yes — the 1973 Czech-German film Three Wishes for Cinderella was filmed here, and the palace has hosted a popular Cinderella exhibition in the winter season for years.

Do you need a ticket for the grounds?

The park, causeway and lakeside paths are freely accessible. The palace interiors and the Little Pheasant Castle are ticketed with seasonal hours.

When is the lake reflection best?

Early morning, before any wind picks up. Autumn mornings often add mist, which is even better.
