A Little History
The story first.
Orlík — "the little eagle" — once perched high above the Vltava gorge; the damming of the river in the 1960s brought the lake up to its walls, turning a cliff-top fortress into a castle that seems to float. It remains home to the Schwarzenberg family, its white neo-gothic walls rising straight from the water.
Why It's Romantic

Water changes everything: you can arrive by boat, watch swans patrol the walls, and walk parkland paths where the lake glitters between old oaks. Summer steamers link Orlík with gothic Zvíkov at the lake's far end — a proposal cruise between two castles is the kind of day nobody forgets.
