The story first.

Count Arnošt Silva-Tarouca spent forty years from 1885 composing Průhonice like a painting — valleys, ponds and vistas arranged around a neo-renaissance château. It's now UNESCO-listed alongside Prague's centre, and botanists rate it among Europe's great landscape parks.

Why It's Romantic

In May the park detonates into colour: thousands of rhododendrons and azaleas along the paths, the château doubling itself in the Podzámecký pond, wisteria on the courtyard walls. Even outside spring it's all reflections, meadows and composed views — a park designed, literally, to make people fall for it.
