Winter is Prague's secret season: mist on the river, snow on the spires, market lights after four, and the fewest tourists of the year. Cold hands are a small price for photos this atmospheric. Here's where winter proposals work best — with shelter always one street away.
1. Old Town Square under the tree

2. Charles Bridge in the mist
The river
Winter dawns bring fog off the Vltava that turns the statues into silhouettes — the most cinematic version of the bridge, and at 7:45am sunrise, no heroic alarm needed.
3. Vyšehrad in the snow
The southern fortress
Fresh snow, empty ramparts, the city white and quiet below. When it snows overnight, this is where we go at first light.
4. The Rudolfinum colonnade

Winter proposal logistics
Dress warm but camera-ready (a good coat is a styling asset — see what to wear), keep the ring in an outer pocket, pack hand warmers, and always agree the sheltered plan B. Note that some formal gardens (Vrtba among them) close for winter — landmarks, riversides and cafés carry the season.
