A Little History
The story first.
Český ráj — Bohemian Paradise — was the first nature reserve in the country and a UNESCO geopark: a landscape of sandstone "rock cities" that 19th-century spa guests declared paradise, and the name held. Hrubá Skála château stands directly on the rock towers; the twin volcanic fingers of Trosky ruin own the horizon.

From the Mariánská viewpoint the château, the rock town and Trosky line up in one impossible vista — the most painted view in Bohemia. Pine-scented gorges, sun-warmed stone, and paths that keep opening onto new panoramas make this a wandering-hand-in-hand kind of day.
