Most international couples choose a symbolic ceremony in Prague — vows, rings, tears, photography — with the legal paperwork done simply at home before or after. It keeps the day about the two of you. A legally binding civil ceremony in the Czech Republic is possible for foreigners but involves registry-office paperwork, certified documents and lead time — if you want the legal route, start early and verify current requirements with the Prague registry office (matrika) or your embassy.
Where elopements feel right
The same corners that hide proposals hold ceremonies beautifully: the Vrtba Garden terraces, Vojan Gardens' walled quiet, a dawn moment on Charles Bridge, or vows on a private boat mid-river. Small means flexible — you can say vows at sunrise and toast on a rooftop by ten.
