Prague's café culture is a century older than its cocktail bars — marble tables, chandeliers, newspapers on wooden sticks. For a quiet celebration, a morning-after breakfast, or simply warming up between portraits, these seven are the most romantic rooms in the city.
1. Café Savoy
Malá Strana, near Kampa · Map ↗
A restored 1893 neo-renaissance ceiling, theatrical service and Prague's most beloved breakfast. Steps from Kampa Island — ideal after a morning proposal there.
2. Kavárna Slavia
Riverbank, opposite the National Theatre · Map ↗
The artists' café since 1884, with river-and-castle views from the window tables. Havel plotted here; you can just hold hands and watch the trams.
3. Café Louvre
Národní třída · Map ↗
Serving since 1902 — Kafka and Einstein were regulars. High pastel rooms, billiards in the back, and a proper old-world hum. Wonderful for a slow celebration breakfast.
4. Grand Café Orient
House of the Black Madonna, Old Town · Map ↗
The world's only cubist café, on the first floor of a cubist landmark — even the lamps and chairs are angular. Unique to Prague in the most literal sense.
5. Café Imperial
Na Poříčí · Map ↗
Walls and ceiling of art-nouveau ceramic mosaic — one of Europe's most extraordinary café interiors. Grand enough to feel like an occasion by itself.
6. Kavárna Obecní dům
Municipal House · Map ↗
The café of Prague's art-nouveau palace: chandeliers, brass and a pianist. Two minutes from the Powder Tower — perfect after an Old Town proposal.
7. Cukrárna Myšák
Vodičkova · Map ↗
A legendary patisserie from 1911, revived with its famous cream cakes. Less grand, more sweet — literally — and beloved by locals for celebrations.
Independently chosen, no partnerships. Opening hours change — check before you go.
A photographer's tip
Grand cafés make wonderful final chapters for a proposal story: after the outdoor portraits, we finish with a few candid frames over coffee and cake — rings on the marble table, the two of you finally exhaling. Ask us to build a café stop into your session route.
