Prague's parks are where the city falls in love — blossom in April, roses all summer, golden leaves in October. These seven are our favourites for couples, each linked to our full location notes: history, privacy, best light and how to propose there.
1. Vrtba Garden
Malá Strana
A UNESCO baroque garden hidden behind an unmarked door — terraces climbing to a rooftop view of the castle. The most secret romantic spot in the city.
2. Petřín Hill & Rose Garden
Above Malá Strana
The lovers' hill itself: orchards in blossom, a rose garden in summer, and the little Eiffel tower above it all. Czech couples have kissed here for two centuries.
3. Vojan Gardens
Malá Strana
Prague's oldest garden — a walled monastery orchard where peacocks doze in the trees and the city goes silent. Magnolias in April are unforgettable.
4. Wallenstein Garden
Malá Strana
Baroque parterres, a dripstone wall and white peacocks strolling like they own the place — formal, theatrical and free to enter.
5. Havlíčkovy Sady (Grébovka)
Vinohrady
A working vineyard inside the city — propose between the vine rows, then toast at the gazebo with wine grown twenty metres away.
6. Stromovka Park
Holešovice
The old royal game preserve: misty ponds, ancient trees and space to be completely alone. Prague's answer to Central Park.
7. Letná Park
Above the river
The skyline balcony — every bridge in one view, plane-tree avenues glowing gold in autumn, and a beer garden for the least pretentious toast in Prague.
When the gardens are at their best
Mid-April brings blossom to Petřín and the magnolias to Vojan; June is peak rose season; September is harvest at Grébovka's vineyard; late October sets Letná and Stromovka on golden fire. Several formal gardens (Vrtba among them) close in deep winter — one more reason spring and autumn are our favourite proposal seasons.
