For about two weeks each spring, Petřín Hill turns white and pink and every path smells of apple blossom. It's the most romantic fortnight in the Prague calendar — and the least predictable. Here's how to plan a proposal around a bloom that doesn't take bookings.
Where the blossoms are
The Petřín orchards are the headline — whole hillsides of fruit trees with the city below. The Seminary Garden next door blooms with them, Vojan Gardens adds magnolias behind its walls, and the Kinský Garden's meadows follow. All are covered in our romantic parks guide.
When they peak — and how we handle the risk
Typically mid-to-late April, but an early warm spell or a cold snap can shift it by two weeks either way. Our approach: book the date for your trip, and we track the bloom on the ground — if Petřín peaks early, we pivot to magnolias or late varieties; if it's late, tulips and the gardens carry the session. You will not stand under a bare tree.
The blossom-day plan
Golden hour among the trees, the proposal in a quiet grove off the main path, then portraits drifting downhill through the orchards as the light warms. Weekday mornings keep the paths to yourselves; weekends bring picnicking locals (which has its own charm).
