Olomouc was Moravia's capital and shows it: the Holy Trinity Column on the upper square is the largest baroque sculpture group in Central Europe and UNESCO-listed; six baroque fountains, a gothic town hall with an astronomical clock, and one of the country's oldest universities fill the centre.
Locals call it what Prague was thirty years ago — all the golden architecture, almost none of the tourists. Students give it life, the squares glow in the evening, and you can propose by a UNESCO monument with pigeons as your only audience. The cafés are superb and nobody hurries you.

For couples who want city grandeur, privacy and value in one: the question at the Trinity Column or Caesar fountain at golden hour, portraits through arcaded lanes, and a celebrated Moravian dinner after. Far enough (2.5 h) to justify an overnight — the town rewards it.
