Holašovice is a single village green with a pond, ringed by twenty-three farmsteads whose gables are decorated in pastel folk baroque — curls, scallops and painted plaster, all of it from the 19th century, all of it intact. UNESCO listed the whole village. It takes ten minutes to walk around and it is one of the prettiest places in Czechia.

A living village, not a museum
People live in these houses. That is the charm and also the responsibility: we photograph from the public green and lanes, keep noise down and never enter private yards. It also means the village looks lived-in rather than staged — laundry, tractors, cats on walls.
Timing
Early morning is best: still water for reflections, warm low light on the gables and total quiet. Summer weekends bring day-trippers and, in July, a folk festival that fills the green — lovely, but not private.

Yes, from the public green and lanes, which is where all the good angles are. The houses are private homes, so we stay outside them and keep the session discreet.

Weekday mornings, any season. Avoid the folk festival weekend in July if privacy matters — although if you love atmosphere and music, that is exactly when to come.
