Ask us privately and we'll admit it: autumn is our favourite season to photograph proposals. September light is honey, October turns the parks to gold, the summer crowds have flown home — and the whole city smells faintly of leaves and roasted chestnuts. Here's where it peaks.
1. Letná Park's plane-tree avenues
Above the river
Late October sets the long avenues on fire — gold overhead, gold underfoot, skyline beyond. The single most photogenic week of Prague's year happens here.
2. Grébovka vineyard at harvest
Vinohrady
September is vinobraní — harvest season — in the city's working vineyard. Propose between the vine rows, toast at the gazebo with young wine pressed metres away.
3. Stromovka's old trees
Holešovice
The former royal game park does foliage at scale: ponds mirroring yellow crowns, mist at the ground on cool mornings, and room to be completely alone.
4. Petřín's orchards, round two
Above Malá Strana
Spring's blossom hill has an autumn encore — fruit trees turning amber with the city below, and far fewer visitors than in April.
5. Kampa & the riverbank
Malá Strana
Willows going gold over the Čertovka, swans in soft light, and that riverbank view of the bridge that autumn mist makes cinematic. Our cover photo above was taken exactly here, in October.
6. Vojan Gardens
Malá Strana
The walled orchard garden drops its leaves slowly and beautifully — quiet paths, fruit trees, and peacocks strutting through the gold.
Timing the colour
Peak foliage in Prague typically runs mid-to-late October, with the vineyard harvest a month earlier in September. Both months keep comfortable golden-hour times (sunrise ~6:45–7:30) — the friendliest light schedule of the year, as our sun table shows.
